Our “Class Placement Clinic” has been successful in revealing our dancers skills and strengths.
Every year our dancers make progress to a higher level of skill than the year before.  It is much like moving from one grade in school to the next.  The majority of the class members move together from one grade to the next, signifying progress in general in all of the students.
Occasionally, as space becomes available in a class, a dancer or two will be moved ahead into a class she has not studied with previously.   When this is the case, the top students from the previous classes are the dancers considered for the positions.    Most times the newly promoted dancer will be the rookie who is working extra hard to keep up with the new class.  (Because, as explained before, all the classes have made a year’s worth of progress.)

If your dancer is grouped with the same classmates she has been studying with for the last few years, you can be satisfied that she is making progress.  Some parents mistakenly feel that their child needs to be jumped ahead of her group or she is not proving to progress.  This is not the case.  Also the reverse is true.  If a dancer takes a year off from dance training, or she has not been applying her best work efforts in class, she may discover that she is not automatically grouped back with the class she previously study with before.   The class has moved on and the dancer then needs to pick up her study in a class level that better meets her needs.
Please be assured that the teachers have been watching the dancers carefully, and we will place your dancer where we feel she is best able to accomplish the skills she needs to work on.  Dancers differ in their personal commitment, work ethic and willingness to accept correction (attitude), which makes a big difference in their progress within the class.    Many times, enrolling your dancer with a solo coach will give her the added impetus she desires to push her even faster in her mastery of the dance.
Dancers will never be promoted on the basis of having been in the “same class” for a long time.
It is understandable that dancers (like all of us) at times just need a change.  We are not offended, and many times this change can be refreshing and inspiring to the dancer as she reaches for motivation to continue her dance education.   Our valley is blessed to have so many options for dance studios.  My own nieces have been “studio hopping” for a few years now, and they find things they like and dislike with each new situation.
In the end, it is your choice, your dancer, your future.   We love our dancers and want them to achieve every success.
See you all at the swim party Saturday, Aug 20th 1-3 PM.
